| Shahrukh’s power packed sentimental performance and Manisha’s enigmatic beauty ablaze the big screen in Dil Se with seven popular melodies that distinctively influenced the hearts of audience. The movie woven around the contrasting themes of extremism and patriotism, Dil Se magnificently captures those beauteous spectacles of Ladakh, Assam, New Delhi, Kerala, Ooty and Himanchal Pradesh in a chimeral display of natural vistas in the movie. Locations A brilliant reel-rendition of prima director Mani Ratnam Dil Se was shot at some of the most enchanting locations of South India suchlike Kerala, Ooty., Nilgris, as well as arrests Himalayaan fancy in Ladakh and adjoining areas. Right from the opening scenes of the movie to the completion of first half, almost, Dil Se holds out some natural surrounding of Assam, NE, that embellish the film in a spellbinding awe. Later in the movie there are many shots of Delhi’s India Gate, Connaught Place, All India Radio office et al, that constitute a significant portion of Dil Se. What adds to the charm of Dil Se is its excellent cinematography and virgin backdrop of glimpses of Ladakh, the same scene where Manisha is sent to monitor the terrorist activities, and Jammu and Kashmir too.
One of the most popular songs of Dil Se, jiya jale, the debut song of Preity Zinta where she pairs with Shahrukh Khan, captures the coconut-fringed backwaters of Kerala with a group of dancers dressed in traditional Keralan attire to match the ambience strike magic on screen in Dil Se. And not to forget, Chaiya Chaiya song, featuring the curvaceous item girl Mallaika Arora Khan dancing on the train top, is Coonoor-Ooty-Mettupalayam Toy train in the Nilgiri Mountains. Maverick director Mani Ratnam won Cinematography award for Dil Se in the National Filmfare Awards. With a bright motley of chimeral locales and actors, Dil Se is definitely a legend in Indian Cinema that calls for a trip to its shooting locations.
