Vivah (2006)

Vivah recaptures the elegance of 60s and 70s silverscreen with  the theme of marital ties and commitment seeped in Indian ethos, culture and surroundings where yesteryear’s maven Shammi Kapoor waltzed or romanced on screen beau Hema Malini or Asha Parekh or Nanda and many other charismatic actresses. Vivah is a similar onscreen bang of some forgotten tracks, emotions, demeanour in desi surroundings of Nainital, Madh Island in Lonavala, Ranikhet and Almora that replicate the old magic once more with Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao in lead roles.

The movie opens in Uttaranchal in a fictional town of Madhavpur. Scenes of Jaeegeshwar temple and local areas add an air of romance and glitz to the movie potrayal. In Vivah, the still where the prospective family of bride and groom meet is Som Taal located in Nainital.  Similarly, there are many eye-capturing locus from Lonavala, Almora, Delhi and Ranikhet where the about-to-be married and newly weds croon their love in super hit songs. Vivah sizzled the 70 mm in 2006 with pines of ranikhet and  lakes of Nainital in its backdrop! 

Vivah is the first Indian movie that saw a release on two  media simultaneously. The first in  theatres and second on internet as well!
