Gulaal (2009)

Gulaal is not a movie for the simpletons who goes to watch movies  based on some time tested formulas. Set in the background of Rajasthan, Gulaal is all about revolution, passion bloody betrayal and most importantly anger. It is the story of an ambitious monarchy trying to recreate the lost kingdom of Rajputana as an independent entity. Gulaal is perhaps the angriest film of director Anurag Kashyap  and comes with terrific acting, superb set-pieces, stirring and powerful lyrics and  good music.

Shooting Locations: In and around Jaipur  

Gulaal was shot extensively in the picturesque Chomu Palace that is around 40 kms from Jaipur city on the Sikar Highway (NH-11). Chomu Palace now stands converted to a heritage hotel. Chomu Palace was originally a fort built by  Thakur Karan Nathji. It took the fort made of Pink Sandstones around 100 year to get completed during the  the reign of Karan Nath`s successor Mohan Singhji.

Some shots of the film were also canned in the Rajasthan University Road and Sambhar lake 96 km south west of the city of Jaipur.
