Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (Darjeeling) Year: 1981 Co Stars: Rakhee, Amjad Khan and Utpal Dutt The movie was released in Hindi and Bengali in the year 1981, where it was a major hit in Bengali for number of years. However, this not-so-big movie (Hindi) is a small town story of law Vs corruption, in which law wins. Bachchan plays a role of high police Mandarin disguised as local dweller. Location Barsaat Ki Ek Raat exclusively uses Darjeeling locus and ambience as the story is scripted on a tea factory. Darjeeling Tea Gardens, Tiger Hills and Kalimpong locations have contributed to the film’s hit. The film mostly is shot in Darjeeling and areas surrounding it. Kasme Vaaden (kashmir) Year: 1978 Co Stars: Rakhee, Neetu Singh and Randhir Kapoor One of the best movies of Amitabh, Kasme Vaade is a serious drama involving story of two brothers. Amitabh dons a double role in the movie, where in the first he gets killed and makes a comeback as a wanted criminal. Kasme Vaade proved a mega-hit soon after his release. Two hit songs Kasme Vaade ... and Aati rahengi baharrein ... were two back to back hit songs still crooned by film buffs. At the time of Kasme Vaade, Amitabh was already a big name and agreed to take up the role as a friendly gesture for Ramesh Behl, the director of the movie. ‘Mile jo kadi kadi...’ and ‘Kasme vaade nibhayenge hum...’ has magical effect on audiences and caught their fancy. Kabhi kabhi (Kashmir) Year: 1976 Co Stars: Rakhee, Sashi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman Kabhi Kabhi is a romantic comedy that spans over two generations that starts among two people and reaches between two families. Rakhee, the leadng protagonist, is besotted by her poet love, played by Amitabh Bachchan, and approaches him. Soon their friendship blossoms into love and they decide to get married. Life takes a different turn and thing fall apart. Later in the movie, their family brings up further twists and turn only to unveil the truth. Location Kabhi Kabhi was phenomenal and took the box-office by stride within weeks after it release. Aside the song lyrics and excellent acting, Kabhi Kabhi’s acclaim was double dyed with the use of Kashmir locales. This film was heavily pictured at Kashmir gardens and snowfalls were a part of the movie. Kabhi Kabhi was popularised due to its excellent locales it was shot in.
