| Lagaan Year: 2001 Co-stars: Aamir Khan, Gracy singh, Rachel Shelley Lagaan recorded highest ever DVD Sales of any movie in India. Released in the year 2001, Lagaan’s script was all set in 19th Century India, the era of Victorian Period. Aamir’s essayed the role of Bhuvan, the lead role, so beautifully that it gets difficult to differentiate between Bhuvan and Aamir. Location The film was primarily shot in and around areas of Bhuj. Lagaan’s script demanded a dry arid land and Bhuj, Gujarat matched with the location in demand. Entire Lagaan was shot in Bhuj, right from the Opening scene to cricket ground to picturisation of the song sequence Radha kaise na jale till the end. The Jam Kanuria Village in Kutch district, located few miles from Bhuj fitted the scene where it had not rained for long and the village was without electricity supply. The village scene, huts and hamlets were all artificial and were constructed by the crew members to set the perfection. Taare Zameen Par Year: 2007 Co-stars: Darsheel Safary, Aamir Khan, Tanay Chedda, Tisca Chopra Taare Zameen Par dives deep into a child’s psyche and potrays realities and innocent feeling a child has to go through. The film is a story of child whose world comprises kites, balloons, paintings and less of studies. His poor performance in studies irks the child’s parents and he is sent to Boarding to a dosage of discipline. Ishaan’s (Darsheel) meeting with Aamir (Ram Shankar Nikumbh) turns to be a deep bonding between a teacher and child. Nikumbh is ishaan’s mentor and guide in the movie. Location The film is shot in Maharasthra and the school that Darsheel attends and escapes from is New Era High School of Panchgani. Rang De Basanti Year: 2006 Co-stars: Aamir Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Anupam Kher & others A revolutionary movie, RDB or Rang De Basanti put the screen on fire with its excellent script and direction. Aamirs overnight catapult to fame and box-office hit was provided with this movie. RDB’s story is about a group of five aimless friends who are prove their metal by getting justice to their pilot friend who dies in a plane crash due to error in plane mechanics. The ministry shrieks to take the condemnation and rather blames the pilot for such act. The gang of friends seeks vengeance by killing the minister in turn. Locations Rang De Basanti flaunts beautiful destinations of Punjab, Rajasthan, Agra, Mumbai and New Delhi. The evergreen song of masti ki paathshala was pictured no where else than Baoli in Nahargarh Fort of Jaipur. Places of Delhi like India Gate, Modern School, Barakhamba were use for All India Radio scene and protest scenes. The famous Golden Temple of Amritsar is portrayed in the movie where Aamir offers prayers. Manji Saab Gurudwara, Sarai Lashkari Khan, Bilanwali Masjid and Gharka (Ludhiana) were beautifully documented beautifully. Fanaa Year: 2006 Co-stars: Kajol, Tabu, Kiron Kher and Rishi Kapoor Love is blind — the tag line of the movie is just not its end. Fanna, a romantic thriller, is centred around a blind girl from Kashmir, who sets to explore the world on her own. She meets and falls head over heels in love with a tour guide in Delhi. Zooni (Kajol) doesn’t have the slightest clue what lies ahead. Later in the movie Aamir (Rehaan), a terrorist on mission, who Zooni falls in loved with discloses his secret missions. Zooni looses all touch with Rehaan after a blast in Delhi and considers him dead. But, Rehaan, come back as a terrorist, indeed, breathes a thrill in the story. Location Fanaa was originally planned to be shot entirely in Kashmir but the continuing insurgencies severed the matter for the film could only be filmed partially in Kashmir. The song sequence chaand sifaruish karta Hamari is pictured in Delhi in Lodhi Gardens and Purana Quila locales. Red Fort in the blast scene, Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Jantar Mantar, Chandni Chowk were major locations where the movie was documented. |
